The 2013 Civic sedan is changed a bit, becoming what the 2012 should have been, with a pretty exterior, snazzy interior, satisfying suspension, and a cabin full of tricks from Bluetooth to Pandora. The side sills are sculpted smartly, and with body-colored mirrors and do.  The nose, hood, black honeycomb grille and angled headlamps are pleasing to the eye, with a humped hood and raked windshield that draw attention Air Conditioning✔ Sunroof/Moonroof✔ Bluetooth✔ Alloy Wheels

2012 honda civic review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All-new version evolves to meet varied expectations. introductionit's been a bestseller for decades, more than 8. 8 million sold in the u. Since its 1973 introduction, and the latest redesign is aimed at making the honda civic the absolute number one player among an increasingly capable crop of compact cars.  the all-new 2012 honda civic is the ninth generation of the civic, and it has a long, distinguished record of engineering innovation. As has been the case in previous iterations, there's some of that in the 2012 civic models, too, aimed at giving it the broadest possible reach in its market segment.  on the other hand, it's not really the gee-whiz breakthrough that's distinguished some previous generations, particularly in terms of engine innovation. Though to be fair, honda has imbued some models with a little more thrust while simultaneously raising fuel economy ratings right across the board.  perhaps more important, the latest civic will be available in its broadest-ever array of models: the dx, lx, and ex sedans and coupes come with a 140-horsepower 1. 8-liter engine expected to get 28 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway when equipped with the 5-speed automatic transmission.  the civic hybrid continues, with efficiency improvements for 2012. Although honda has a specific hybrid model, the insight, the hybrid returns to the civic lineup with increased power in its integrated electric booster motor and deeper electric power reserves in a new lithium-ion battery pack.  for those who don't wish to pay the hybrid premium, there's the 2012 civic hf, with exceptional fuel stinginess from a regular internal combustion power train designed for thrift. Fuel economy is up in standard civics, too.  the civic si returns as the high output member of the lineup, offered once again in coupe and sedan body styles. With the demise of the s2000 sports car, it's the only high-performance car in honda's lineup. The 2012 civic si features a new engine, a smidgen of additional horsepower, and substantially more torque. The added torque makes the si easier to drive around town without constant downshifting, significant because a 6-speed manual is the only transmission offered.  though completely redesigned, the 2012 civic looks similar to the previous-generation version. Its exterior dimensions are about the same, though the wheelbase is slightly shorter.  the cabin is attractive with quality materials and nicely designed seats with lots of adjustment and a new driver's information display. The available 160-watt audio system sounds very good and bluetooth is available for hands-free cellphone use.  underway, the 2012 civic is creamy smooth and exceptionally quiet. The brakes are easy to modulate for smooth stops in everyday driving and will stop the car quickly when called upon. Handling is average, so the standard models do not rate high on the fun meter. lineupthe 2012 honda civic comes in six models. The 5-speed manual is standard, but the 5-speed automatic is available for the lx sedan 18,655) and lx coupe 18,455).  civic ex sedan 20,505) comes standard with the 5-speed automatic. Civic ex includes six-speaker audio system, bluetooth, 60/40 split rear seat, upgraded rear-seat accommodations, one-touch power moonroof with tilt feature. The ex sedan and ex coupe are available with navi and xm radio 22,005).  civic ex-l 21,955) coupe and sedan upgrade to leather-trimmed interior and heated front seats. The civic ex-l is also available with navi and xm radio 23,455).  civic hf 19,455) sedan is designed for maximum fuel efficiency with specially tuned 1. 8-liter engine and 5-speed automatic. Civic gx sedan runs natural gas and comes with the 5-speed automatic.  civic hybrid 24,050) sedan is available with navi and xm radio 25,550) or leather 25,250) or both 26,750).  civic si sedan 22,405) and coupe 22,205) feature a high-performance 2. 4-liter engine and 6-speed manual. Navi and xm radio are available for the si sedan 23,905) and si coupe 23,705). walkaroundgiven a budget and a mission, no designer is likely to leave well enough alone, and that's true of the new 2012 civic lineup.  but this is a more of a challenge than one might think. The eighth-generation civic has been successful throughout its six-plus years, and its sleek lines still look good.  on the other hand, success notwithstanding, no automotive design lasts indefinitely. So the design leader has to find a way to retain the successful elements and still imbue the product with a sense of newness.  the new cars sport redesigned fascias, updated rear ends, and new character lines, but the basic shape, which lead designer toshiyuki okumoto calls a 'one motion form,' has the same flowing aero look. Although the wheelbase is slightly shorter, body dimensions are essentially identical, and it takes a practiced eye to tell new from old at a glance.  although the sheetmetal is basically all new, honda didn't take any chances here. Whether this will be a plus over the long service life of the design remains to be seen.  the distinction between civic generation eight and nine isn't as dramatic as the change from seven to eight, when the slick aero shape first emerged. Honda has chosen to spread its development budget over refinements and a broader model range. interiorquality materials, attractive design, and colorful instrument lighting give the civic interiors a look that's a notch or two above compact norms. The bi-plane look continues in the new car, with important info repeated at the top of the dash, allowing the driver to scan with minimum visual redirection.  forward sightlines, always the driver's first line of defense, were good in the previous generation, but even better here. We appreciated the thinner windshield pillars and mini-window set in the angle where the windshield pillar intersects the car's hood. A lot of new cars have thick a-pillars that can obstruct the driver's view of pedestrians and other vehicles, but not here.  the biggest change inside the car, though is the new i-mid, or intelligent multi-information display. There's considerable body roll in hard cornering, the tradeoff for excellent ride quality. Fuel economy figures were not official but are expected to be about 28 mpg in the city/39 mpg on the highway. Honda recommends regular unleaded gas.  th. 2005 honda civic hybrid review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Big satisfaction in a small package. introductionefficient, practical, affordable, polished and pleasant to drive, if not downright fun, with a reputation for reliability: these are the honda civic's hallmarks, and nothing about the 2005 model suggests anything has changed.  measured by the hardware, little has changed on the civic for 2005. There are a couple of new paint colors and a special edition package at the high end of the line-up. On the other hand, price increases are so modest that they haven't kept pace with inflation, and the civic had significant changes inside and out for 2004.  few carmakers offer the range or diversity honda builds into the civic line. There are sedans, coupes and a hatchback, with an emphasis on either features and convenience, performance or fuel efficiency and low cost of operation. All are notable for their excellent fuel economy, free-revving engines and solid handling, including the electrically assisted hybrid. Up-level civics come with powerful vtec engines that deliver brisk acceleration. All provide superb comfort for front-seat passengers.  three specialized civics are designed specifically to minimize environmental impact and deliver better fuel economy than all but a few cars currently available. The most extreme is the hybrid sedan, which gets up to 51 mpg with help from an electric motor that never needs to be plugged in. Owning and driving a civic hybrid is just like life with a regular civic, almost. The civic hx coupe gets 44 mpg on regular unleaded. There's also a civic gx sedan that burns natural gas; honda claims it has the cleanest internal combustion engine in the world.  subtle styling changes were made for 2004 when bumpers, hoods, headlights and grilles on the coupe and sedan were redesigned to emphasize a baby-brother resemblance to the slick, smooth honda accord. The sporty si hatchback was trimmed with new head- and tail lamps. The sedans and coupes offer several engines choices and trim levels. All come standard with a five-speed manual transmission. Honda's package-pricing policy means extra equipment is geared to the trim level, with few individual options. A new special edition trim package is offered for 2005. Prices have increased a modest $150 from 2004 for all models except the si, which rises $220.  the dx sedan 13,160) and dx coupe 13,810) are the least expensive civics. The dx sedan has wind-up windows and manual locks, and it lacks such features as air conditioning and seat-height adjustment. An optional vp or value package 400) adds air conditioning, a cd player and a center console. The vp is included in the price of the standard dx coupe.  in other civic trim levels, the coupes are less expensive. The lx sedan 15,510) and lx coupe 15,310) get the 115-hp engine with more standard equipment, including air conditioning, 15-inch (rather than 14-inch) steel wheels, anti-roll bars front and rear, power-windows, a height-adjustable driver's seat, remote keyless entry and a cd player.  the civic ex sedan 17,410) and coupe 17,010) get more power from a more sophisticated 127-horsepower vtec (for variable valve timing) version of the 1. 7-liter engine. Ex also adds 15-inch aluminum wheels, body-colored power mirrors, upgraded audio with six speakers and a tilt-and-slide glass sunroof. The se is actually an option package 450) on the ex. It includes an in-dash 6-disc cd changer with an auxiliary jack for ipod-style mp3 players and satellite radio receivers. The se also adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear-deck spoiler, unique alloy wheels and special badges.  the civic si 19,220) is only available as a hatchback and the hatchback is only available as the si. The si comes with a high-output 2. 0-liter vtec engine delivering 160 horsepower, sport tires and suspension and ex-grade features. It's not offered with an automatic.  three specialty civics put a particular premium on fuel efficiency. The hx 13,860) comes with dx-style amenities and a lean-burn engine that combines up to 44 mpg highway with an impressive 117 horsepower. The hybrid is equipped comparably to the ex sedan, with a five-speed manual transmission or optional cvt. The hybrid system provides up to 93 horsepower and 116 lb-ft of torque with the electric motor 'assist.' fuel economy is improved up to 30 percent compared to other civic sedans, while meeting the epa's partial zero emissions standard.  finally, the civic gx sedan 20,190) comes with 100-hp, natural gas-powered engine that requires a special fueling station for home use. The gx may have the cleanest internal combustion engine in the world, as honda claims, but it's also the most expensive and one of the least powerful civics. For 2005, the gx gets the same styling changes introduced on other civic sedans in 2004.  safety equipment includes two-stage front airbags, child seat anchors for the back seat and an emergency release lever inside the trunk, all standard. Side-impact air bags come standard on the hybrid and are optional on all models 250) and we strongly recommend getting them. Anti-lock brakes (abs) are standard on the ex, si, and hybrid, and optional on gx. We wish abs was available on all models. The civic scores well in the national highway traffic safety administration's crash. walkaroundhonda's reputation for space-efficient design holds in the civic. This small car packs its motor into a condensed engine bay, leaving more space for passengers, especially in front, without increasing exterior dimensions. We like the civic's expansive glass, compared to some small cars. We're not crazy about the lever-type door handles, though, the grab-through style is easier to use.  now familiar, the civic's basic wedge profile rises from front to rear, with a low, abbreviated prow and high, curt tail. The hood sits amazingly low. Civic's flanks are interrupted only by a single crease that dashes from the front wheel opening to the taillight; there are no body-side moldings. Windshield pillars arch into the rolled roof to meet narrow c-pillars. Bold tail lamps dominate the blunt rear panel. Overall, both the sedan and the coupe remain conservative in appearance, but contemporary in design.  for 2005, the new special edition features a prominent rear-deck spoiler, unique alloy wheels and badges that quickly distinguish it from other civics. These features follow more significant styling changes introduced last year, when most models where fitted with redesigned bumpers, grilles, hoods and lights at both ends. The changes are subtle, but suggest the total re-style given big brother accord in 2003. The family resemblance is obvious.  the same shared blood is even more obvious between the civic sedan and coupe, yet the two cars are clearly different. While they share the same wheel base and inner structure, most of their exterior panels are not interchangeable. The coupe features a more aggressive windshield rake, intended to create a sportier look, and its tail lamps light up in a signature pattern. Its huge, flat windshield is steeply raked, and its nose slopes radically downward, generating excellent aerodynamics and allowing great visibility outward. The si is slab-sided, without any sculpture in the sheet metal, though in 2004 better proportioned 16-inch wheels gave the car more character by better filling the wheel wells. Some think the si is ugly; others love it and are quick to defend it. interiorgood seats, well-designed controls and excellent outward visibility make the honda civic an easy car to operate. The windows are expansive for a car this size and the hood is low, so the passenger compartment feels airy and open. Sight lines are excellent for driving and parking. From the front seat all civics are comfortable cars; from the back seat, they are less so.  front-seat accommodations in the civic are superb for a car in this class. The sedan's seats provide excellent support, thanks to a rigid structure with fairly aggressive side bolsters. High bottom cushions make entry and exit easy, though a lack of height adjustment in the base dx limits tailoring for driver size or taste. The civic coupe's front seatbacks stretch broad and deep, with headrests that are open at the center like a doughnut. The si hatchback's front seats are best of all, offering comfort for longer trips and more aggressive bolstering for hard driving.  seat fabrics have been upgraded in recent years, and the look and feel of materials are generally very good. The civic hybrid's interior is most posh of all, with automatic climate control and a two-tone finish lacking in the high-trim ex sedan. 2006 honda civic review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All-new lineup sets new standards for compacts. introductionit's hard to find a more competitive new car market than the compact class. And it's more than just price, as the number of entries has skyrocketed in recent years.  honda once led the class, in every measure that mattered, from performance to price to quality to pizzazz. And just as important image-wise, honda led the hot, sport compact niche. With the redesigned, restyled, rejuvenated 2006 honda civic models, the company has returned to the fray with renewed energy.  across the line, there's more power, improved ride and handling, and better people packaging. There are more choices as well: a sporty new civic si coupe, a fully populated tier of coupes and sedans with new engines and transmissions, and a more efficient and effective hybrid sedan. In between there's a sedan listing at $15,560 with the new five-speed automatic. The si starts at $20,290. There are other cars in the class that undercut these figures, but the civic includes important safety features, including antilock brakes and side-impact airbags as standard equipment, that many others leave on the option list. lineuphonda doesn't hold back when it comes to fleshing out a model line. A performance-oriented coupe, the si, comes with a 197-horsepower, 2. 0-liter inline-4 fitted with a six-speed manual. Standard equipment is confined to power windows, tilt-and-telescope steering wheel and height-adjustable driver's seat. Added to the no-extra-charge features on the lx are power moonroof; variable windshield wipers; a second 12-volt power outlet; a 60/40 split folding rear seatback; a seven-speaker, 350-watt, xm-ready, premium stereo with auxiliary input jack and steering wheel-mounted controls; and outside temperature indicator. There are few options available and honda positions its options packages and automatic transmissions as separate models, so for example, there is the civic coupe ex with navigation and automatic transmission 21,010) and the similarly equipped sedan version 20,760).  the si coupe 20,290) comes with all the gear found on the lx coupe plus leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, amber-tinted headlight trim rings and a body-colored rear wing spoiler. The si coupe is available with high-performance summer tires and the navigation system with xm satellite radio 22,240).  the hybrid sedan 22,150) adds to the lx's features automatic climate control, a roof-mounted radio antenna, a rear decklid spoiler, and hybrid-pertinent digital data displays. The hybrid is available with the navigation system 23,650).  dealer accessories include 16-inch alloy wheels 876), chrome exhaust tips 119), and aero-style, exterior body add-ons for the sedan. Honda factory performance packages are available for the si, one for the lx and ex coupes and sedans. The si hfp package includes lowered springs, more tautly tuned shocks, a sports muffler, 18-inch alloy wheels, a full lower-body aero kit and the hfp emblem 3880). The lx and ex hfp package for the coupe 3183) and sedan 3680) substitutes 17-inch alloy wheels, drops the muffler and adds a rear spoiler. Installation costs extra and is set by dealers. walkaroundhonda re-did everything for 2006. Not only are powertrains updated and upgraded, and a new platform developed, but the sheetmetal is new. Not a single body panel is carried over from 2005.  the sedans and coupes don't share any body panels. And trim elements and markings distinguish each iteration.  the platform underneath is new for 2006, seriously strengthened in rigidity, stiffness and crash absorption capacities, with minor adjustments to accommodate the varying dimensions of the coupe and sedan body styles. As part of its campaign to revitalize the civic's appeal to the sport compact market, honda has incorporated reinforced mounting points and gussets to allow suspension and certain other modifications without diminishing body integrity.  from the front, styling differences are subtle, but marked. A polished, horizontal bar dominates the sedan grille. Slender headlamp assemblies angle upwards as they curve around the fenders. A single, broad air intake fills the lower portion of the fascia.  the coupe grille appears more open, with the honda logo suspended on a matte-black framework. An understated badge tucked away in the far right reaches of the grille identifies the sporty si version. The coupe headlights are more sharply outlined. The lower air intake opens between two, geometric recesses that feed cooling air to the front disc brakes and house the optional fog lamps.  the front ends, but especially the coupes', push the leading corners down and outward, emphasizing the 2006's wider track (the distance side to side between the tires), which grows by more than an inch in front and by more than two inches in back over the 2005's.  save for a lower body character line, drawn slightly higher on the coupe than on the sedan, the sides of the new civic are more slab than sensuous. Understated fender blisters, more pronounced on the coupe, break up the otherwise featureless expanse. What excitement there is in the side view is in the sleekness of what honda calls a monoform design. A central expression of this is the windshield, the leading edge of which reaches into the hood all the way to the middle of the front wheel wells, pushing the design concept of 'cab forward' to a new extreme. On the coupe, the windshield is raked at a radical 21. 9 degrees, markedly steeper than the '05's 26. 7 degrees, even exceeding the acura nsx's 23. 9 degrees. And the sedan's matches the nsx's, dropping from the '05's 29. 1 degrees. The sail (the body panel aft of the rear side window) is unique to each model as well. The coupe's forms an acute angle emphasizing the two-door body style, while the sedan's curves down over the rear door's trailing edge, pulling the eye through the higher roofline. The coupe's be-spoilered, rounded rear profile suggests swiftness. The sedan's somewhat abbreviated trunk lid and chopped off tail end adds perceived mass to the tightly proportioned, smallish sedan.  likewise, the rear view of each body style differs markedly. The coupe's sloping trunk lid settles into a deep cut in the rear bumper, with the license plate sheltered in an equally deep recess. The sedan's trunk lid drops in an almost vertical, unrelieved sheer from a relatively high crest across the top, all very bmw-like in presence. interiorif the 2006 civic's exterior is new, the '06's interior borders on shocking. First impression of the instrument arrangement is of a video game. Controls are for the most part where they should be, but not necessarily as they should be. There's little symmetry in organization or shape of features and interfaces. It's not an unpleasant look, but one that requires some acclimation. Ironically, perhaps, the interiors are indistinguishable across the full line, with only minor differences necessitated by the different powertrains.  splayed across the top of the seemingly unending dash in front of the driver is a hooded opening with a digital speedometer between lcd coolant temperature and fuel level gauges. Down below, in the more common place for the instrument panel, in the half circle formed by the top half of the steering wheel, that is, there's a large, round, analog tachometer. To each side of this lower ip are large, irregular vent registers. Centered in the dash above the climate control panel is either an lcd window combining the navigation display and audio settings and, in the hybrid, a selection of graphic depictions of the hybrid system's functions and status or a stereo control head with the pertinent accoutrements. To the right of this squished pod-like arrangement, the dash curves away from the front seat passenger and houses two, more horizontally oriented vent registers, again neither of which matches the other. A wide, but not especially deep glove box rests below a cabin-wide, clam shell-like notch dividing the upper and lower halves of the dash.  there is no center stack to speak of tying together the dash and the drive tunnel.
